How nanotechnology works
Find out how LADA describes the nanotechnology in its textile materials. The article explains the role of the fibre and the nanoparticles; for the exact composition, see the individual piece.

We design and sew our pieces from an exceptionally functional, antibacterial and skin-safe fabric with certified Czech nanotechnology. It allows us to make comfortable clothing with exceptional properties, suitable even for physical exertion and extreme conditions.
The benefits of LADA garments
- they wick sweat away from the body
- they dry quickly and keep the skin dry
- they regulate temperature thanks to the special profile of the fibre
- antibacterial
- they eliminate odour
- UV protection
- self-cleaning effect, effective against droplets
- shape-retaining – contains no elastane and does not shrink with repeated use
- easy-care, no ironing needed
- unlimited functionality
- an ecological solution that is sustainable and saves costs

How do these properties come about?
The benefits of our products arise as early as the spinning of the yarn; the nanotechnology is integrated directly into it. As it is made, the polyester fibre, a few micrometres in diameter, acquires longitudinal grooves through which it draws moisture to the surface of the fabric, where it evaporates.

During production, silver nanoparticles are integrated into the fibres. They eliminate the growth and proliferation of unwanted bacteria and moulds, giving the textile antiseptic and deodorising effects.
The special weave of some fabrics creates the so-called lotus effect, which turns water on the surface of the material into beads that simply roll off. As they roll off, they carry dirt and dust away with them. The textile is thus resistant to dirt and other influences.
Another benefit of the silver nanoparticles is a UV filter, which prevents unwanted radiation from reaching the skin. The surface of the nanoparticles acts as a mechanical barrier that reflects UV radiation; it is permanent and cannot be washed out.

In the atelier, besides designing pieces, we also work on nanotechnology as such; we are members of the Nanotechnology Industries Association of the Czech Republic and we devote ourselves to innovation in technologies, products and services. From nanomaterials we can create a collection for the catwalk and designer boutiques, just as we can sew hundreds of functional T-shirts and well-fitting nano face masks for companies.
All LADA end products carry Oeko-TEX® Standard 100 certification. It confirms that the garments are safe for adults and children through international testing of pH values, the possible presence of pesticides, preservatives and so on, as well as the possible presence of carcinogenic and allergenic substances in the dyes.

How to care for garments made from nano materials is described in a separate article.
